Today's Order: Nirvana
Friday, October 16, 2009 The Order:
Just like all of you, we here at SeamlessWeb are super-excited for Delivery Week starting on Monday! However, we were still excited to place a regular order today too and we chose some nice warm Indian food from Nirvana to combat the cold. I went for the Lamb Lunch Box featuring lamb curry, while AnnMarie went vegetarian with the Vegetable Lunch Box.
The Meal:
The food arrived quickly and there was A LOT of it. The main dishes came in segmented containers (see pics below) which was great because it allowed me to mix and match whatever I wanted on top of the huge portion of rice. The lamb was very flavorful and I really enjoyed the taste of the sauce. What I didn't enjoy was the fact that there were bones. Since most Indian curries come boneless (at least in my experience), that was unexpected and unfortunate, making the meal a more difficult and messier process. Also, I thought that my vegetable was going to be cauliflower, but instead it was some potato/hot pepper combo that was good, but not great. However, the full order of naan mostly made up for any minor problems and made sure that I ended the meal full.
The lamb is on the left.AnnMarie likes her veggies and loved that the spinach had that real pure essence of spinach. The lentils, on the other hand, were a little soupy for her liking and she would have preferred if they had more substance, so she wouldn't recommend those. The well-seasoned rice and plentiful amount of food though certainly left her satiated though.
Guess where the lentils are?On the whole, Nirvana offers very good value in their lunch boxes, as you get a ton of solid Indian cuisine for a reasonable price. Try it out next time you're especially hungry!
FYI - We're located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Nirvana for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
