The Order:

While I miss the idea, value, and deliciousness of 3-course meals for lunch from Delivery Week, I don't miss the guilty feeling I got when I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. I'm just not a big leftovers guy, so to get back in the saddle today, AnnMarie and I ordered Italian. I am a big carbs guy. The restaurant? Dolcino Trattoria Toscana. I liked their menu of pasta standbys and selected the Rigatoni Siciliana (with fresh tomatoes, eggplant, and ricotta cheese). AnnMarie chose the Rigatoni Buttero (with peas, sweet and hot Italian sausage, and a touch of cream) and we determined to let the best rigatoni win.

The Meal:

When we opened the bag, we were greeted with a treat. In addition to our pastas, we got what may have been a variation of eggplant caponata, along with two big, soft pieces of bread. A lovely start to the meal. The eggplant made for a perfect topping to the bread and we were on our way. My rigatoni was loaded with more cheese than I expected, but it was very good. I tried to combine as many bites as I could with all the ingredients and would definitely order it again. It was a large portion, but one I was able to finish off pretty easily.

Up close and personal with a whole lot of ricottaAnnMarie enjoyed her lunch very much. The sausage was ground up, the peas hit the spot, and the cream was light and just right. Add some perfectly cooked al dente pasta and the recipe for success was complete. The generous portion even ended up being enough for two meals!
