SeamlessWebber of the Week: Dominique
Thursday, June 25, 2009 Every Thursday, a different SeamlessWeb customer tells us all about how he or she orders from the site. If you pay close attention here you just might learn something. This week, we have Dominique, a multi-talented entertainer who is nothing if not a lady.
Name: Dominique
Age: I'm a lady! (but early 20s)
Occupation: Actress, Singer, Violinist, Dancer, Model, Writer
How and When Did You Discover SeamlessWeb? I'd seen SeamlessWeb on plastic delivery bags and glanced at the site, but my ex was the one who got me using it all the time about two years ago. As soon as I realized I didn't have to struggle with people on the phone, I was hooked.
Where Do You Use SW? At home, at friends' houses, wherever there's a computer and we're hungry!
Favorite Kind of Food: I have so many: I love steak, pasta, sushi, French, Indian, seafood...basically almost anything cooked well.
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Mexican. Although I made an exception for Crema and it was fantastic.
Favorite Place(s) to Order From on SW? I adore Li Hua, a lovely little Korean place in upper Chinatown. They also have really cheap cocktails. L'Annam in Gramercy is also great, but they don't deliver down to me. :(
Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? People who don't speak English or are rude. I kind of expect a basic level of civility if I'm trying to pay you.
Closest Previous Brush with Internet Fame? Last year I read on Grub Street that a guy was using Craigslist to find a date to go to Momofuku Ko. This was when it first opened and was absolutely impossible to get into. So I sent him the link to my restaurant blog, Dominique Eats Out, some stuff about myself, and a picture, and he ended up picking me over 200 other women. Grub Street followed our story and even linked to our posts about the dinner afterward. I got a lot of hits that week!
Also, recently I was in an online video for Malibu.
Favorite Celebrity Chef? Probably David Chang. He just doesn't care what anyone thinks and his food makes me almost not care if I get fat! Tom Colicchio is pretty awesome and I would love to meet Eric Ripert. He sounds like he'd be really cool.
Favorite Cartoon Growing Up? I wasn't allowed to watch TV except when I could sneak away from my mom at other kids' houses...I think I only ever got to see The Smurfs.
What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? I want to be a shapeshifter/chameleon like Mystique. (I also want to be as hot as Rebecca Romijn. Can't believe she's married to that comparative schlub Jerry O'Connell.)
In the Past Year, What's the Latest You've Stayed Up and Why? I was up until 11 AM one day last week playing poker. I've been trying to qualify for the upcoming World Series of Poker. I only started playing 6 months ago. I'm pretty good, but I have to beat 800,000 people in 4 rounds to get a seat! So far, I've come in 2nd in the 3rd round.
Plans for Tonight? I think my friend is coming over. If we don't cook, we'll probably order online from Seamless. :)
