Today's Order: Berger's on the Go

Good old-fashioned Jewish deli sandwichesThe Order:

AnnMarie's got a thing for sandwiches, and when she gets it in her mind that she wants one, there ain't no holding her back. Today's sandwich of choice was a Reuben, so of course our restaurant of choice had to be a Jewish deli. And since I've always had a soft spot for Berger's on the Go (Berger is my last name, but no relation), our choice was easy. Now a Reuben is traditionally made with corned beef, but Berger's offers their diners pastrami as another option, and AnnMarie took them up on it. Meanwhile, I went for a classic corned beef sandwich on rye, one that they call "New York's Best."

    The Meal:

The food came incredibly fast and our eyes lit up when we saw the mountains of sliced meat piled up on the warm, soft bread. I was also excited when I saw the high quality spicy mustard that came with my sandwich, the perfect condiment complement. Then I dug in. The corned beef was moist and full of flavor, exactly what I wanted from my sandwich. High marks all around.

Seriously, that mustard was great.AnnMarie had high expectations of course and she was not disappointed. Her sandwich was perfectly prepared, filling, and not too salty. Sometimes pastrami can get a little out of control, but this was well-seasoned. Finally, the bread was excellent, and she's Polish, so she knows her rye.

Grilled to perfection. All in all, Berger's on the Go was everything and more than we could have asked for from a Jewish deli. Next time, we get that craving, we know where to turn!

FYI - We're located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Berger's on the Go for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
