    Today's Order: Wild Greens

    The Order:

It's Friday and I'm not feeling 100%, so AnnMarie and I wanted something healthy and easy to eat. Thus, we decided to try and relive our salad days by actually ordering salads. Our restaurant of choice for this endeavor was one of SeamlessWeb's salad specialists (say that 10 times fast!), Wild Greens. They do offer a wide variety of sandwiches and wraps also, but a salad felt like the right choice, so I created my own with mixed field greens, corn, peas, asparagus, tomatoes, avocado, grilled chicken, and a balsamic vinaigrette. AnnMarie went more traditional, ordering the California Cobb Salad.

    The Meal:

Let's just say that this salad experiment wasn't quite as successful as my last one. It started out just fine, as the delivery came on time and portions were enormous, which is usually a good thing. But when I took my first bite, I knew I was in some trouble. I could barely taste the dressing. Now I understand that dressing shouldn't be slathered on, but this was almost nonexistent. Next, I mixed the ingredients around and noticed that I could barely find any avocado. Not only was avocado my favorite ingredient, I had paid extra for it! I finally found a couple of small pieces and they were hard. Very disappointing. The rest of the salad was ok, although nothing to write home about. It was nice in theory that the bowl was basically never-ending, but I would have much preferred a better salad in a smaller portion.

That bowl has SO much more food than it seems, but a similar amount of avocado.Luckily, AnnMarie was happier with her meal. The Cobb had a nice combination of ingredients and to her surprise, the honey mustard dressing actually worked well with the other flavors. Similar to me, she couldn't come close to finishing the bowl. I'm not really sure how this could be their standard portion size!

Salads in plastic bowls are hard to photograph well. After this experience, it's probably gonna be a while before I order salad again for lunch. As for Wild Greens, maybe it's best to stick to their creations, rather than going custom, unless you're a salad expert, something I certainly am not.

FYI - We're located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Wild Greens for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
